The Ukrainian Women in Cyber project is aimed at supporting women in the field of cybersecurity in Ukraine. In the context of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine—when many men bravely defend the country’s independence on the front line—the responsibility for sustaining the economy and driving the state’s development increasingly rests on women’s shoulders.

The initiative creates opportunities for learning, professional growth, and expanded leadership pathways for Ukrainian women who wish to contribute to national and international cybersecurity. This not only aligns with the principles of social justice and respect for human rights, but is also a strategic necessity for Ukraine amid an unprecedented war.

Purpose

To strengthen the role of women in the cyber sphere — through education, mentorship, career opportunities, and engagement in national and international cyber defense processes.

Goals

  • Educational programs and skills development: together with universities and civil society organizations, develop specialized programs and trainings accessible to women of different ages and levels of preparation.
  • Career growth and women’s leadership support: create a mentoring network and organize knowledge-exchange events that foster women’s leadership in cybersecurity and participation in shaping the national cyber strategy.

  • Women’s participation in the national security sector: facilitate gender equality in the public cybersecurity sector; support women in cyber defense, cyber intelligence, and combating cybercrime.

  • Cooperation with the private sector: partner with innovative and technology companies to engage women through internship programs and to develop policies that promote gender equality in cybersecurity.

Components and Initiatives

Within the Ukrainian Women in Cyber project, we implement a set of strategic initiatives aimed at comprehensive support for women in the field of cybersecurity.

1Analytical Research
“The state, challenges, and prospects of women’s leadership in cybersecurity in Ukraine” — the first comprehensive national study that highlights the challenges and opportunities for women in this field.

2Nationwide Information Campaign. Designed to popularize cybersecurity among women and girls and to overcome stereotypes about their participation in the field.

3Mentorship Program
Individual and group support from experienced women professionals focused on career development, professional growth, and building confidence.

4Women’s CTF (Capture the Flag)
A hands-on cybersecurity competition created specifically for women, which fosters the development of technical skills in an inclusive and supportive environment.

5Strategic Leadership in Cybersecurity — Course
A training program that develops managerial thinking, a strategic approach, and analytical competencies for women who aspire to hold leadership positions in the field of cyber defense.

6International Conference on Women’s Leadership
An event that will bring together women leaders from across the industry worldwide to exchange experience, shape a strategic agenda, and build international partnerships.

7Summer Cybersecurity Camp
5-day intensive for students and early-career talent. 80% hands-on: cyber range, mini-CTF, and team-based incident simulations—building technical skills and soft skills (communication, leadership, teamwork). Graduate with a certificate, portfolio-ready cases, and access to a mentor community.

Why It Matters

Ukrainian Women in Cyber strengthens Ukraine’s cyber resilience by opening doors for those who are ready to act. And you can be among them.

This project is not just about equality. It is about strategic security, innovation, and the future. We cannot afford to lose half of the nation’s potential — especially now.
